Dong Zhuo

Cao Cao was under the forces of Dong Zhuo when he was planning to overtake the empire. Cao Cao joined to assassinate the tyrant. One day he discussed his plans with Wang Yun, and asked to borrow his seven jeweled knife to do the job. The next day he met with Dong Zhuo. While Lu Bu went to fetch a new horse for Cao Cao, he went in for the kill. But Dong Zhuo noticed and asked what he was doing. Cao Cao, struck with fear, replied that the knife was a gift. At that moment Lu Bu came back with the horse. Cao Cao insisted he ride, and fled the capital without stopping at his own house. Due to this failed attempt he called out to various warlords to oppose Dong Zhuo, Forces gathered at Si Shui Gate were dong Zhuo's officer Hua Xiong was waiting with 50,000 men. The coalition over came the odds and advanced towards Lou Yang, Different war lords appointed Yaun Shao as Gran Commander to lead the forces. This did not bold well for Cao Cao as he saw Yaun Shao as a fool, However the force still pushed on eventually meeting Lu bu at the gate of Lou Yang, as Liu Bei, Zhang fei and Guan Yu routed Lu Bu and his men Cao Cao and Gongsun Zan stormed the castle however Dong Zhuo had fled setting the capital ablaze thus leading to the victory of the coalition forces.

Guan Yu

After attacking Liu Bei at Xu Zhou, Cao Cao went on to Xia Pi where Guan Yu was stationed, along with Liu Bei's two wives. A general under Cao Cao's command, Xiahou Dun, taunted Guan Yu, forcing him to come out and attack. Finding that his retreat route was cut off, he took a last stand on top of a knoll. Another one of Cao Cao's generals, and an old friend of Guan Yu, Zhang Liao talked him into surrendering, as long as Liu Bei's wives were kept safe, that the surrender would be to the emperor, and that he could go back to his brother once he found Liu Bei's location. Cao Cao was pleased with Guan Yu, and offered him many gifts, including Red Hare.

While Guan Yu was under the rule of Cao Cao, he killed Yan Liang and Wen Chou, who were generals under Yuan Shao. He also killed Kong Xiu, Meng Tan, Han Fu, Bian Xi, Wang Zhi, and Quin Qi in an attempt to leave Cao Cao once he learned the location of Liu Bei. He was about to fight Xiahou Dun, but Zhang Liao arrived with a letter from Cao Cao sayin that Guan Yu was free to leave.
