Hu Lao Gate

Background

Hu Lao Gate was an important defense point on the path to Luoyang that was attacked by Yuan Shao, the leader of the Allied Forces, in an attempt to overthrow Dong Zhuo (Dong Zhuo was forced to flee Luoyang, but was later assassinated by his adoptive son Lu Bu). Though no historical record of the battle taking place here exists, this was also the place where Lu Bu was defeated by the brothers Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei.

Role in the Series

In the Dynasty Warriors series, Lu Bu remains the last challenge before entering the gate. However, the final confrontation with Lu Bu can be avoided entirely, either by taking another path or by simply running past him.
