From Dynasty Warriors - Wiki on Neoseeker
Dynasty Warriors 3 introduces a new element to the series, items. These items boost various statistics or bestow special abilities, usually time based. Each character can hold up to 5 different items at once, so choose the ones you think will benefit you most in battle. Often a report of a valuable item or a supply captain will follow completing the right objectives. If it's a captain then you must kill them and they will drop the item.
Art of War
Increases the longevity of Attack, Defense, Speed, and Musou in-battle pick-up items.
Stage: Siege of He Fei Castle - Wei's Forces
Method: Defeat all generals except Sun Quan.
Bodyguard Manual
Bodyguards becomes noticeably stronger and use a second weapon instead of just a first.
Stage: Siege of He Fei Castle - Wu Forces
Method: Defeat Xu Zhu over by the bridge.
Buckler
This item allows you to block without being overpowered no matter what attacks come your way.
Stage: Battle of He Fei - Wu Forces
Method: Let Taishi Ci be killed and then kill Zhang Liao.
Cavalry Armor
This reduces the amount of damage you take when you're riding a horse.
Stage: Any Stage. Found in boxes and dropped by officers
Defender
This item doubles your defense when your health gets to the red section and you get back up after being knocked down
Stage: Battle at Wu Zhang Plains - Wei Forces
Method: Defeat 2 of the 5 Tiger generals to obtain a shooting star event.
Dragon Amulet
This necklace of the Blue Dragon will increase your musou gauge stats proportionate to its level.
Stage: Any Stage. Found in boxes and dropped by officers
Elixer
Sack of supplements that increases the speed of musou gauge recovery.
Stage: Any Stage. Found in boxes and dropped by officers
Fire Arrows
Equip this and all your arrows you shoot will become projectiles of fire to inflict more damage upon the target.
Stage: Battle of Chi Bi - Wei Forces
Method: Kill Zhou Yu before the fire attack.
Golden Harness
This harness prevents you from being knocked off when you are hit with an arrow while riding a horse.
Stage: Battle of Tong Gate - Wei Forces
Method: Kill Pang De and Ma Dai and make Han Sui defect to Cao Cao's side. Once he's defected kill all other enemy generals and make Ma Chao retreat back into Tong Gate.
Note this item is very hard to obtain. On easy mode Pang De and Ma Dai are easier to kill but Han Sui can be killed with ease, on hard mode Han Sui will last longer but Pang De and Ma Dai have Lu Bu type power.
Hex Mark Saddle
Start the stage with Liu Bei's steed Hex Mark which supposedly increases luck while riding it.
Stage: Assault on Cheng Du - Shu Forces
Method: Kill all enemy officers except Liu Zhang.
Horned Helm
Decorative helm that enables an increase in attack power when mounted on a steed.
Stage: Any Stage. Found in boxes and dropped by officers
Huang's Bow
Imbued with the archer supremacy of its owner, this bow will increase your arrow attack damage.
Stage: Any Stage. Found in boxes and dropped by officers
Imperial Saddle
This saddle allows you to ride any horse regardless of what level you are.
Stage: Battle of Yi Ling - Shu Forces
Method: Prevent the fire attack, then kill Lu Xun. A supply captain will appear at the Wu base, kill him for the item.
Note that Liu Bei will not retreat if the fire attack fails and so will be vulnerable. Either have a second person stay with him or play as him for the best chance of getting this item.
Peacock Urn
This item gives your maximum health a boost, the higher the number the bigger the effect.
Stage: Any Stage. Found in boxes and dropped by officers
Power Scroll
This yellow scroll means you will never lose a weapon deadlock, ties are still possible.
Stage: Battle of Hei Fei - Wei Forces
Method: Kill Gan Ning when he appears just south of your main base.
Red Hare Saddle
Start the stage with the fastest steed among horses, Red Hare. Bright red horse with elaborate ornamentation, its superior attack and speed is what earn Red Hare the title of being "worth a thousand horses."
Stage: Battle of Hu Lao Gate - Allied Forces
Method: Kill Lu Bu. Easier said than done!
Seven Star Orb
This orb increases your luck which will increase the frequency of dropped items.
Stage: Any Stage. Found in boxes and dropped by officers
Shell Armor
This armor will reduce the amount of damage you take from archer attacks.
Stage: Any Stage. Found in boxes and dropped by officers
Speed Scroll
This scroll will increase your speed stats proportionate to its level.
Stage: Any Stage. Found in boxes and dropped by officers
Survival Guide
When life is critical, attack strength will double upon getting up after falling.
Stage: Battle of Wu Zhang Plains - Shu Forces
Method: Kill 2 of Wei's 5 Tiger Generals.
The Way of the Musou
This scroll allows you to perform your true musou attack regardless of whether or not your health is in the red zone.
Stage: Guan Yu's Escape - Shu Forces
Method: Kill Xiahou Dun when he appears.
Tiger Amulet
This necklace of the White Tiger will increase your attack stats proportionate to its level.
Stage: Any Stage. Found in boxes and dropped by officers
Tortoise Amulet
This amulet of the Black Tortoise will increase your defense stats proportionate to its level.
Stage: Any Stage. Found in boxes and dropped by officers
Wind Scroll
This blue scroll increases your attack radius proportionate to its level.
Stage: Any Stage. Found in boxes and dropped by officers
Wing Boots
These boots of flight allow your character to jump higher than usual.
Stage: Any Stage. Found in boxes and dropped by officers
