Background

Ma Teng(Shoucheng) A descendant of the famous general Ma Yuan, Tamer of the Deep, and father of Ma Chao. During the end of Emperor Ling's rule, Ma Teng was elevated to the status of General Who Conquers the West in recognition of his succesful campaigns. A sworn ally of Liu Bei, Ma Teng met his end when his attempt to assassinate Cao Cao was revealed. His sons Ma Tie and Ma Xiu died with him.
