There are five story mode paths to pursue in Warriors Orochi 2. Each faction is comprised of assorted collections of officers from Dynasty and Samurai Warriors. Like the scrambled dimension corrupted by Orochi, each force has assembled into unconvential lines. For instance, normally Shu warriors are in alligned to other groups; Pang Tong is in Wei, Ma Chao is in Wu, and Huang Zhong is in Samurai.
Every story mode takes place in the time after the first Warriors Orochi, except one: the Orochi faction. In Orochi's story mode, the clock is turned back to the beginning to detail the events of the Serpent King's initial conquest and how the Dynasty and Samurai warriors came into their WO roles.
Kingdom of Shu Story
- Starters: Liu Bei, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Xing Cai, Sun Shang Xiang, Ieyasu Tokugawa, Tadakatsu Honda, Ina, Hanzo Hattori and Yoshimoto Imagawa
- Affiliates: Taigong Wang, Zuo Ci, Zhao Yun, Wei Yan, Lu Xun, Mitsuhide Akechi, Gracia, Zhang Liao, Zhuge Liang and Yue Ying
Shu Chapter 1
Factions: Shu Army & Taigong Wang Army vs Da Ji Army
Difficulty: One star
Caption: Thwart the enemy's plans! Reinforcements are on the way, if you can make it through the crisis!
Tips: Da Ji, the enemy commander, has locked herself in the center garrison. Warriors on a speed run can't rush to the commander and end the level. No, you'll have to wipe out all the enemy officers and then a sudden cameo of Dong Zhuo reinforcements before those garrison doors will even budge an inch. Once you finish mopping up foes (all 11 officers) Da Ji's morale will drop like a stone on the water. Approach the center and the garrison will open.
Shu Chapter 2
Factions: Shu Army & Zhao Yun Army vs Date Army
Difficulty: Two stars
Caption: The key to this battle lies in the garrisons. Run the enemy into the ground by speedily executing your plans!
Shu Chapter 3
Factions: Shu Army & Lu Xun Army vs Lu Bu Army
Difficulty: Two stars
Caption: Stop the demon of the battlefield, and turn the tide in your favor!
Shu Chapter 4
Factions: Shu Army & Akechi Army vs Sun Wukong Army
Difficulty: Three stars
Caption: Rescue the Akechi family from the clutches of the enemy! Speed will be your greatest asset!
Shu Chapter 5
Factions: Shu Army & Zhang Liao Army vs Taira Army
Difficulty: Three stars
Caption: Stand bravely against the might of the enemy! Now is the time for the Blue Dragon to roar!
Shu Chapter 6
Factions: Shu Army & Zhuge Liang Army vs Da Ji Army
Difficulty: Four stars
Caption: Avoid the myriad of enemy traps and seize the fortress of Odani castle!
Shu Chapter 7
Factions: Shu Army vs Taira Army
Difficulty: Four stars
Caption: Break through the chaos and find Kiyomori. His ritural to revive Orochi must be stopped at all costs!
Shu Chapter 8
Factions: Shu Army vs Orochi Army
Difficulty: Five stars
Caption: The final battle... Unite, and defeat the Serpent King!
Kingdom of Wei Story

Caption: See through the enemy's schemes, and turn crisis into opportunity!

Difficulty: Two stars
Caption: End the persecution of the innocent at the hands of the tyrant, and show the world how the Hero of Chaos fights!
Wei Chapter 3
Factions: Wei Army & Taishi Ci Army vs Yuan Shao Army
Difficulty: Two stars
Caption: Divide, subvert and conquer! Turn the enemy against each other, and cause their forces to implode!
Wei Chapter 4
Factions: Wei Army & Maeda Army vs Date Army
Difficulty: Three stars
Caption: Form an alliance with the two great heroes. Together, your might will be more than a match for Sima Yi's cunning!
Wei Chapter 5
Factions: Wei Army & Cao Pi Army vs Orochi Army
Difficulty: Three stars
Caption: The Orochi Army is on the attack! Rescue Cao Pi, and use cunning to turn the tide of battle!
Wei Chapter 6
Factions: Wei Army & Azai Army vs Da Ji Army
Difficulty: Four stars
Caption: Da Ji's sorcery is spreading panic across the battlefield. Work with your allies and end her mischief!
Wei Chapter 7
Factions: Wei Army & Oda Army vs Taira Army
Difficulty: Four stars
Caption: Overcome his evil sorcery, and defeat the demonic Kiyomori Taira!
Wei Chapter 8
Factions: Wei Army & Coalition Army vs Orochi Army
Difficulty: Five stars
Caption: The time has come! Combine the strategic might of great heroes, and defeat the Serpent King!
Kingdom of Wu Story

Caption: The evil alliance of Kiyomori and Lu Bu threatens to pollute the peace. A water attack will serve to wash them all away!

Caption: Intellect can always overcome sheer number. Shrewd use of sneak attacks will be the key to victory!

Difficulty: One star
Caption: The sign of a true hero is to stand up for the downtrodden. Rescue your allies and teach the tyrannical Dong Zhuo a lesson!
Samurai Chapter 2

Difficulty: Two stars
Caption: Da Ji is on the run! Give chase, avoiding the many obstacles she will throw in your path!

Caption: Kanetsugu Naoe is in dire staits! Strength in numbers will be the only way to overcome the enemy's sorcery!

Caption: Sometimes, cunning and trickery are the only choice. Balance composure with daring, and seize victory!

Caption: Rescue the Wu Army from the relentless onslaught of the enemy forces!
Samurai Chapter 6

Caption: Liaise with Nobunaga Oda, to hold back the oncoming enemy forces, and hold out until reinforcements arrive!

Caption: This will be a mighty clash between two armies! Step onto the battlefield, where sword and sorcery are in full cry!
Samurai Chapter 8

Caption: Lay siege to the fortress of Edo Castle! Overcome the many-layered defenses and seize control of the castle!
Orochi Chapter 6

Difficulty: Four stars
Caption: The Hero of Chaos is flexible in his strategizing. Respond appropriately to each crisis and claim victory!
Orochi Chapter 7
Factions: Orochi Army vs Oda Army
Difficulty: Four stars
Caption: Match the enemy plan for plan, and outstrip them for speed!
Orochi Chapter 8
Factions: Orochi Army vs Mystic Army
Difficulty: Five stars
Caption: Sorcery is powerful, but only so long as the sorcerers are safe! Use military might to overcome this magic!
